Julie Bell (born October 21, 1958, in Beaumont, Texas) is a world-renowned American artist, illustrator, and fantasy painter, celebrated for her powerful and hyper-realistic imagery that bridges heroic fantasy and fine art. She has also gained recognition as a wildlife painter, photographer, and former competitive bodybuilder, which deeply informs her mastery of human and animal anatomy in her work.
Bell’s artistic career includes creating book covers, comic illustrations, trading card art, and advertising work for major clients and publishing houses worldwide. She was the first woman to paint Conan for Marvel Comics, breaking new ground in the genre, and her striking representations of warriors, amazons, and fantasy figures have earned her multiple Chesley Awards as well as the distinguished title of Living Master from the Art Renewal Center.
Throughout her career, Julie’s work has appeared on hundreds of book and magazine covers, video game and trading card art, album covers, and major advertising campaigns. She also designed the popular and award-winning Dragons of Destiny series and has earned numerous first-place awards in international art salons.
